Mercury Music Prize 2017

About this playlist

The Mercury Music Prize is a glorious moment in the year where British artists are credited for creating inventive and interesting albums. Past awards have seen an eclectic mix of winners from Primal Scream, Suede and Pulp in the 90s to The XX, Benjamine Clementine and last year's victor Skepta. Maybe this paints a picture of how genres have changed for artists pushing the boundries over the years?

2017's crop include the all conquering Ed Sheeran alongside latest indie heroes The Bad Moon, Blossoms and Glass Animals, moody electro from Sampha, The XX and Alt-J and rap sounds from J-Hus, Loyle Carner and man of the moment Stormzy. Finally, Kate Tempest brings her unique urban wordplay and outsiders Dinosaur are this year's experimental jazz offering.
