Hands on the Wheel (feat. Asap Rocky)
Label: Top Dawg Entertainment
Habits & Contradictions won't end the debate over whether Schoolboy Q relies too much on talented producers like THC ("Oxy Music") and Digiphonics ("How We Feeling"). With a brusque, choppy delivery reminiscent of Kurupt, he doesn't have the grace of cohort Kendrick Lamar, who easily outclasses him on "Blessed," but he's good at hooky, memorable phrases in "There He Go" and "N*gg*s Already Know." His singular talent goes a long way toward making Habits work. Its high point, "Hands on the Wheel," may be the ultimate marker of the rap world's dangerous addiction to sizzurp.
