Old Crow Medicine Show's Appalachian party train continues to build steam with Remedy. And this party train is a well-oiled machine; songs roll effortlessly from one to another, emitting a warm, old-timey glow. Standout track "Firewater" alludes to the New Testament while reflecting on the vicious drink-shame-drink cycle of an alcoholic. Other highlights include the boot-stomping call-and-response "8 Dogs 8 Banjos," the biographical tribute "Doc's Day" and "Sweet Amarillo," which, like the band's "Wagon Wheel," was an unfinished Bob Dylan song that frontman Ketch Secor breathed new life into.
