This Is Sinatra!
When Sinatra came to Capitol Records, he was thought to be washed up. But his first batch of singles, collected on this 1956 album, prove he was entering his most artistically rewarding period. Sinatra sat down with arranger Nelson Riddle, and together they crafted a new sound that would be widely copied in jazz and pop. "South of the Border," "The Gal That Got Away" and "I've Got the World on a String" show off a newly confident artist. "Young at Heart," "(Love Is) The Tender Trap" and "From Here to Eternity" are film themes, and "Love and Marriage" is from a musical version of Our Town.
