White Lightning Hit The Family Tree
Label: Rca Records Label Nashville
Chris Young turned 21 while recording his self-titled debut, but the Nashville Star champion boasts a mature, buttery baritone that sounds as seasoned as any of the honky-tonk veterans residing in his record collection. Although the crux of his solo album celebrates roadhouse debauchery, not all of his songs are a romp in the hay. "Drinkin' Me Lonely" is a solid update on the classic tear-in-beer songwriting formula. And playing the sensitive "Flowers" for your significant other following a fight could be the next best thing to busting out an actual bouquet (aside from hot make up sex).
